"Expressions of Youth Circus Performers" |
|
Every thought, every brush stroke, within every PAL Sailor Circus painting, expresses Shingo's admiration, love, and respect for children and youth circus performers achieving their dreams |
|
During the 2006 winter holiday season, Shingo Saotome visited Sarasota Florida and attended a Sailor Circus performance, also known as “The Greatest Little Show on Earth”, produced by PAL (Police Athletic League). Shingo was so overwhelmed by the young adult's and children’s passion, and dedication of parents and volunteers who work tirelessly to assist these children in their endeavors, that his experience created a powerful inspiration for Shingo to paint Sailor Circus youth and children working to their limits performing their talents. Upon returning to Japan in December 2006, Shingo immediately went to work to create seven paintings of Sailor Circus performers. Working day and night, the set of original paintings were completed in time to be unveiled during Sarasota Sailor Circus's opening March 2007performance.and donated to PAL Sailor Circus. |

I was very moved when watching the PAL Sailor Circus 2006 holiday show (The Grinch). I wanted to paint to express “It Takes A Team” to create a wonderful production by the children who performed to their best abilities, with parents, volunteer's, and the staff's warm support behind the scenes. |

When I saw the principle boy having his make-up applied by his mother, right away this overlapped the Masterpiece by Michelangelo "La Pieta" which inspired me to paint. |
